Nature and Man - Understanding a complex relationship

 

This workshop tried to enlighten the participants on the question how man can define his relationship to nature in past, present and future. In order to make man's complex relationship to nature transparent, the students were shown various pieces of art and artistic reflections on the issues of ecology as well as biology.

The initial inspiration was given by Nicolas Bouillard who engaged the students in a demanding presentation which essentially led them to question our view of nature and city as a duality of good and bad, black and white, beautiful and ugly. It became their task to reflect their relationship to nature by questioning their simplifying concept of nature and culture / civilization.
