3rd Workshop St Helens 2009

Transparency - Reflection - Identity

During this workshop the participating students and teachers widened their knowledge of art immensely by simply viewing all kinds of work and exhibitions in the region between Manchester and Liverpool.

During a four day tour-de-force we visited up to 9 different exhibitions (shown in various famous museums such as the Tate Gallery, the Imperial War Museum North, the Lowry and others). These experiences were to accompany the artistic enterprise of our students whose task was to collect impressions on art and the concept of transparency and reflection.

The mostly mixed groups then engaged in their work at school and used their photographic material as well as material offered at school to create a varied body of work which reflected personal experiences as well as fantastic ideas or philosophical questions concerning complex questions like the reflection of identity, growth and age.

All the results were inspired by the initial spark, however, the directions taken varied immensely and reflect the communicative process among the students involved. Enjoy their work by simply following the links on the right.

To describe our entire itinerary in detail would be a lengthy enterprise so check on the link below to see the programme of the week in a short overview.
